sharpen your tools for you for a modest fee. There are a number of other tool  
distributors and makers that will do the same. 
    It would be worth it to see what a properly  sharpened tool looks and 
works like.
    Or is you have a local woodcarver, you might ask  them to help/show  you 
if you like the way their tools carve. In our  Tuesday morning group, folks 
quite frequently loan a tool to let someone see if  they like it or the way it 
cuts. Recently, I have been informally elected to  show some folks how to 
sharpen. Most haven't a clue. Second thing that I notice  is that they don't invest 
the time the first time around in getting their tool  shaped, sharpened and 
honed properly. Folks, it takes time. The more you learn,  the less time it 
will take. I do not like getting out a tool that I have never  set up correctly 
before. Yes, I have spent as much as 90+ minutes reworking a  tool that has 
been improperly done, not my own in this instance, but do find  some poor results 
even among long time carvers.
   Just a thought.
