Thanks to Lloyd for his suggestion regarding my search for super high RPM carving tools and Loren W...I guess I don't feel like a toatl idiot for wanting to burn wood on such a high temp. Thank you also to Evansnanny (Carol) and Sylda for your kind words about my drawing. I feel somewhat confident as a draftsman, it's just this carving and burning business that dumbfounds me. It's very exciting to me to get a glimpse of the work and lives of all of the carvers on this list. I hope it will be possible to meet some of you someday.

I'm grateful that the transfer method may be of use to you, Sylda. Let me know if you encounter ant difficulties with it and I'll see if I can be of help.

I finally got some digital shots of my first ever carving. I barely understand anything about relief carving, but I look forward to learning more about it every day. I guess my father is my role model. He was a violin playing chemical engineer until his late 50s. He has transformed himself into an award winning luthier. At 85 he is still making violins, violas and cellos and an occasional bass. People line up for purchase before he begins each new instrument. May we all enjoy the marvel of carving out some gift to offer back to the world in exchange for the pleasure of living and breathing. Have a great day everyone. I guess I'll try to figure out how to post some pics. Alice Leora Briggs
