[Woodcarver] Relief Carving

Thanks for your kind words about my relief carving, Merrilee. It's true I am not a beginner as an artist, though I am grateful that I still feel like one! Carving is utterly new to me though, except for the many years I have observed my father working with wood. It always seemed like an impossibility for me to do anything remotely three-dimensional. I have way too many degrees in painting and no training at all in sculpture. I'm not sure what happened this year...all I know is that I accidentally started carving in late August and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. I really only meant to put a little texture into a painting on wood. It just got a little out of hand. I can see now why it is necessary to have a list serve for people who carve, a sort of "Woodworkers Anonymous". ;)
