[Woodcarver] whittling? Carving?

It depends on who you ask.
My opinion is that each of us in U.S.A. do both, intermingled with painting
and/or staining and finishing on most items we produce.
Just choose the title you wish to use, and that's what you are. No guilds,
unions or professional societies for either title has any governing
authority.
We seem to congregate into clubs and informal gatherings for loose
associations for learning, socializing and commerce.
Sometimes I am a whittler, sometimes I am a wood carver, often both, and
always a painter or finisher on any particular project.
But you don't have to call me an artist.
By the way I ordered a set of those expensive big black crutch tips that
flex. Mine has a red band. (June refuses to use one of the ugly
things.)Have had one on a cane for a week now and love it. Especially, when
needing support to lean on while having to stand and wait for very long.
However, on a wet or otherwise slick floor it is no better than a regular
medical type tip. Old Joe
