Hi Maricha,

I loved that you mentioned Betty Edwards book, Drawing on the Right Side of
the Brain. Perhaps the premise she uses is not fully based on scientific
fact when talking about the function of the right and left side of the
brain. But it might play a role in our individual experiences with our
creative process.

If the Right Side of our brain is the creative side and the Left Side is the
logic and language side, perhaps the Right Side of our brain is more
dominant in our very early years? As we mature, advancing our logic and
language skills, for most of us the Left Side of the brain becomes the
dominant side. Perhaps with some of us, who struggled with Left Side skills
such as language and logic, the Right Side stayed the dominant side perhaps
making us more creative. Betty Edwards has developed exercises, which seem
to force Right Side brain activity eventually quieting the Left Side brain
activity.

I feel this might be another piece of the puzzle in art education,
creativity and problem solving.
