[Woodcarver] When should a carving be retired from competion?

this is just my opinion having never entered a carving to be judged.  When I 
took some carving classes, which were once a week,  I came up with a new 
project for each class.  I kind of feel the same way about entries.  I think things 
should only be entered once.  For each new contest you should have to carve a 
new thing.  someone of great talent, could carve the carving of their lives, 
it could stand out in its craftmanship and beauty and win medal after medal 
after medal.  OK already!  we know its good.  If you continue to put the same 
carving in show after show it seems to me to be a form of bragging, bordering on 
conceit.  And how many of us try to avoid those overbearing type of people.  
Maybe entering something only once is a bit too strict but at least retire it 
when its won Best in show, or best in its class.  you can't get any better 
than that.  and theres nothing more for you to prove.
