[Woodcarver] When should a carving be retired from competion?

Hi Mike,

Good questions, these are fair and honest questions on how shows are set up to 
be run.  They seem to have a set or rules for each show, but not across all 
shows.  So there are differences, sometimes significant, in how often you may 
enter, what you may enter, and how recent the carving must be.

The couple of carvings I have noticed, and the one that brought this question to 
mind, was one done recently, within the past 6-8 months.  My concern is that it 
has shown up in yet another show, local to the carvers area, after it has been 
to several other major shows apparently.

It is shown in the top, or master class, but anyone wanting to compete in that 
class is now up against well known previous winners.  As I said, I wonder if 
that doesn't discourage some folks.  Yes, you certainly can be determined to do 
better and beat the crowd, but it is not easy to do.
