Well, I'm sure glad someone can carve butternut. I tried twice and couldn't  
do a thing  with my carving knives. I have arthritis of the hands, but I  just 
found it too hard and I am not sure the absence of arthritis  would have 
helped.
    Completed a saw whet owl and stylized pelican with  power carving out of 
butternut.. Re-did the pelican in bass wood and it came out  rather good. 
Sorry, I am not in the very good to excellent class. Trying to  enjoy carving for 
what I can do and not worry about being the next oh, most any  professioinal 
carver. LOL.
    Not a rant, just wondering. One of the top  onocological surgeons at John 
Hopkins Hospital came from the projects of Boston,  and he is black. He 
undertakes operations which many other  surgeons will not attempt. Hummm, often 
wonder where he got his  inspiration from. Don't yell, just asking cause I sure 
don't  know.
