[Woodcarver] Filler for pencil carving

Hi everyone, I hope someone can give me some help on this one.

I am in the process of carving a pencil. I am cutting out hex shapes on the surface and going down to the lead. Then I am removing the wood between the lead and the outer shell. I would like to know if there is some type of "clear" liquid filler that I can inject into the space between the pencil lead and the carved out wood shell. I would guess that this space is about 1/16 of an inch.

I tried the gel form of crazy glue, but it does not dry transparent. I was thinking about using a clear epoxy but how do I get it into the small space between the lead and the wood. I was thinking about using a 2 part resin, but I never worked with it and I still have the same problem - How do I inject it into the pencil?

I would like it to look like one of those clear paperweights with stuff floating in it. Thanks in advance for your help.

God Bless,
JohnG
