Hi all,
The Gathering of Woodcarvers 2004 is now history. If you weren't there
you missed a great event. As always, Joe & his team had everything
organized so all in attendance had a quality experience. The weather
was perfect all week for an outdoor gathering. Of course Big Dog and
Miss Carol were there with the store. This year BD made sure Joe
didn't try to run off with Miss Carol and the store. He's no fool.
Guarded Miss Carol like a hawk.
We got to meet our own Doris Briggs, Roy and Jamie who traveled 29
hours to join us from Edmonton, Canada. Lesley Wyatt came all the way
from England. Wow!!! This is getting impressive. And then, for an
encore, our own Ivan and Mary Lou graced us with a surprise visit from
Faribault, MN. David and I missed the jam session but I understand it
was a grand event.
Several instructors kept 6 tents busy at all times. I won't begin to
say all the names but all types of wood carving & painting was
represented. We even had the President of a historical museum come
with old wood tools and demonstrate how to make shingles, wooden rakes
including the teeth for the rake, etc. He had a shaving horse set up
along with a whole of tools. Also, a blacksmith came and gave full
demonstrations.
We were so happy to be a part of the GOW and seeing all of our
woodcarving friends again...and meeting new.
I don't know the dates for next year but I know it is already being
planned. I'm sure they'll be close to the same weekend so pencil it in
for 2005. It is something you won't want to miss.
See ya
Sally
