Hi Bill, This is Gary Crosby (Bing) of darkwood-woodcarving.com this email
is an answer to your email.

1. First I have written three digital carving books in the past. I am
presently working on 5 more, Wall Mirrors, Ball & Claw Legs, Backyard
Sculptures, Folding Doors, Coffee Tables & End tables. I also have several
more ideas I am thinking of doing. I sell them through the net and through
representatives in the UK, Australia, Russia, and I am working on France and
Germany. I am also working on three digital novels. The first one is about
my tour of duty in Sierra Leone West Africa during the war, where I spent 40
days building and occupying "FIREBASE BEN". It was a Sierra Leone Army
firebase in the middle of the jungle. The second book is about my last tour
as the senior bomb disposal expert in Kabul Afghanistan during all the
attacks last year. My last one is about my tour of duty in Rwanda again bomb
disposal / Engineer.

2. Second the web page idea sound good Bill, what better way to promote
woodcarving. I also, like most of us provide free patterns plan, shout
tutorials and other things on my site. I am working on making several
tutorials on basic carving and "Carvings Spirit Faces". My intent is to
provide as much free lessons for beginners as I can afford, $ web space cost
money.

You have a good idea Bill if your intent is to provide free info to new
and beginner carvers outstanding!!

  Subject: [Woodcarver] Author-published books...

  Gentle Subscribers:

This message is for AUTHORS of books - both print and CD varieties - and
TOOL MAKERS/INVENTORS who are subscribers to the Woodcarver Mailing List...

First, as List owner I'd like to know how many carving authors we have on
this List... those who have written carving books, eBooks, DVDs, Videos and
the like.
I'd also like to include people who have created carving tools and
devices.

Second, I'd like to know how many people in this group would be interested
in a having their names and products listed on a web page that is directly
connected to the Woodcarver Mailing List?

What I have in mind is this:
  1. Gather names of authors who are self-publishing, authors who have
engaged publishers to handle their books, tool-makers who have created
woodcarving-related tools and devices, and inventors of carving related
items.
  2. Place these names on a web page, with links to websites and with
contact information.
  3. Place a short header at the top of all messages that go out to list
subscribers. This header would contain a link to an "Authors Page".

The intention is to give our List authors and tool makers/inventors a
means to announce their work to the List community in a continuing fashion.
Please let me know what you think of this idea.

The Web page for this Listing will be at:
  http://wwwoodcarver.com/WWWList/AuthorsPage.html

This page is presently "under construction" and subject to change. It would
be useful if you also considered constructive ways this idea could be
implemented. Ideas about organizing the listings and page layout would also
be welcome. I look forward to hearing from you.

  Blessings and Peace,

  Bill
  List Owner
