Al,
I hope that your friend has some very sharp carving tools. I used to mix
Hedge, (Osage Orange), in with oak when I was heating with wood. It makes a
very Hot fire. Several times while cutting with my chainsaw, I would
actually see sparks coming off the chain. I was cutting wood that was in the
woods and so I know that there were not any nails or other metal causing
this. It is extremely HARDWOOD!
Also, as an FYI many of the Native American Tribes from this area,
(Missouri), used this wood in making their bows and arrow shafts. I have
seen some items made from Osage Orange and it is a beautiful wood.
God Bless,
Richard (ashmagalf1 at aol.com)

A carving friend of mine is looking for some Osage Orange to carve. Does
anyone on the list have a source where he can purchase some of this wood?
Thanks, in advance, for any and all responses!!!!!
