Hey Dick,

Once you get the bear bleached out careful that your finish doesn't darken
it again. Waterbased polyurethane I found is good for keeping that snow
white look.

There is one Waterbased POLYURETHANE  on the marked that states 
"STAY WHITE" 
Used it for years and all the wood stays as white as ivory 
Lost the can and can't remember the name 
So go and search
