I went to Springfield, IL a couple of weeks ago and the Best in the World
natural finish fish was carved from Apple Wood.  It was very light in color
and was beautiful.  The carver was from Russia.

hi tim the wood is a white color wood and also does
carve nice however it is a hard wood like black walnut
as it ages it does get harder.
