[Woodcarver] skateboarder

Now that our weather has cooled down and paid work has dropped off I have
managed to get back to my skateboarder.
The timber has dried out a lot since November and small cracks are
developing but so far nothing big.
The timber is proving to be very contrary and not a joy to carve, so I have
changed my mind from when I started and now instead of a nice detailed
carving I will settle for a good likness.
The timber would have to be the worst I have ever carved. It chips and the
grain twists and turns every couple of centimeters. If it wasn't for the
"Cogelow gouges" I bought of Larry last year I would not have been able to
get a finish in the palm of the hands.
I am now working on the face. The first time I have tried to do a child. I
could do with Ivan or Ol'Don looking over my shoulder.
Any way my son has added more pictures under Work in Progress on my web
page so take a look.

If we revert back to the previous postings you will see I do the face last.
I don't know why, maybe I am just putting it off until I can't get out of it.
I usually work over the whole as I go it gives a better idea of the posture
etc.
