Hi Gang,

I am back from vacation, our trip to Seattle and then up to Victoria, over to
Vancouver and by rail across the Rockies to Banff. We visited several of the
First nations galleries and I wanted to thank everyone who provided suggestions
to us for the trip, particularly Mike Komick.

In Victoria, we saw Thunderbord Park, near the art museum. This is a wonderful
park with a number of totems and other carvings. Several local stores carried a
wide variety of First Nation carvings and other art, while the shops in the
Victoria Emperess Hotel were happy to discuss the native carvings with me when I
told them I was a carver.

In Vancouver, we visited the Spirit Wrestler Gallery in Gastown and loved the
work we found there, although, like the Emperess shops, the prices were far out
of reach.

Finally, Banff had some native carvings and art as well although nothing that
was as well done or unique as we saw earlier. The ferries and train ride were
wonderful, it is a trip I would recommend to anyone who has not seen the
northwest and Canadian Rockies.
