Maura whats wrong with the FULLSIZE Flexcuts??

Woodbutcher Jan

Nothing I guess jan, some seem to like them. I wouldn't trade my palm
flexcuts for anything. I just prefer a stiff mallet tool. Have tried flexcuts
large mallet tools and didn't like them so much. although others swear by them. I
prefer a more solid tool. I would rather that the entire force of the
mallet strike be transferred to the wood. The flex in flexcut tools absorbs a bit
of the whack. The main point is that i am trying to advise the carver to
try to picture the things he will be carving in a few years down the road and
to try to steer his tool purchases in that direction, be they micro, palm,
intermediate, mallet or sculptors tools. There are lots of top-notch brands to
choose from out there, swiss, stubai, taylor, ashley Isles, 2 cherries,
hirsch, spannsage, dastra and flexcut to name just a few. And it all comes down to
how the tools feel in the hand of the carver and whether or not they serve
his intended purpose. The best thing about flexcuts is that they come
wonderfully presharpened and the edge holds its sharpness well. some of the other
tools must be sharpened before first use.
