Trying to get a smooth line and curve with any kind of power tool is 
a challenge.  Trying to carve by hand with a veiner on a curved 
surface with grain changes is also a challenge.  The way I deal with 
this problem is to fit a veiner to a power chisel.  The power chisel 
makes many small cuts very fast so that the problem of keeping even 
pressure on the veiner when the grain changes, is minimized.
