Hi All:
My name is David Woods and I am relatively new to the list. This is
my first post, but I have been trying to read the digest edition on a
regular basis. I have also visited several of the other contributors'
web sites and I admit I am in awe of the talent that I have seen. I am
a novice level carver interested in wood spirits, found wood carving,
and relief carving, which brings me to the real point of this post. I am
trying to find a Maltese Cross firefighter pattern that I can do as a
relief carving for my son who recently graduated from a fire fighting
academy.
I would like this carving to finish out on a block approximately 6 - 8
inches square. If anyone has a pattern or knows where I can locate one I
would appreciate hearing from you.
Another question I have concerns the purchase of carving tools. I
have a limited quantity of tools and it somewhat restricts what I can do.
I want to expand my tool collection and I am considering the Flexcut set
Number 108. I would like to know what others think of this set, and
do you think it is a good overall set to have. With the cost of good
tools being a factor I don't want to make a bad purchase.
Any information concerning the best sources for tools would also be
appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any responses
