Ray, I have a chunk of the Great Lakes log but after Joe's big
announcement, I decided I was just second class (we knew that!).
But..........has anyone carved any wood recovered from the Great
Lakes??? I have seen turned pieces but no carvings???

I meant to add this little squib before, but forget.  I think most of
you 
are aware of the log salvage operation in the Great Lakes, the
recovering of 
log that had been submerged a hundred years or better.  Someone involved
in
