I use Plastilina Clay. It never hardens so you can use it over and over
again. If you are wanting to model something that you want to keep you can
use Sculpy and bake it. I just prefer the Plastilina. It is available for
most carving supply companies and some art supply shops.

Hi mike and anyone that models from clay what type of
clay do u use and is it baked after u have designed
the peice or do u reuse the clay n keep it soft in
some way..
As I think it would be good to make models of
different things for carving, however: I have never
made a model and find that people talk about models
from clay in many books on carvings. However, they
never list or explain about the type of clay used.
