Chirping in here as I had my ears burning a little yesterday :)
Perhaps Lori will agree (or disagree) that some of the wonderfully fun
things that go along with writing a book include:
1. Not a single clean fork in the house because all of the dishes we
own are stacked up, dirty, in the sink and your beloved husband
threatening to go to the store for plastic silverware, paper plates,
Styrofoam coffee cups, and frozen TV dinners just so he won't starve to
death before deadline arrives.
2. Your blue jeans are about three days past ripe because there just
hasn't been a moment to do laundry and we won't even talk about the pile
of damp bath towels in the hamper.
3. Your beloved husband wandering down the hall in the early morning
hours to find the living room floor covered with pages and pages of half
written notes, partially finished patterns, open library books used for
references and ideas, and you sitting in the middle of the pile
throwing a royal tantrum of frustration.
4. Morning alarm clocks set for 4 AM just to squeeze in an extra hour
or two of work before the real work of the day begins.
5. The growing pile of finished samples totally consuming every nock
and cranky of your house and you don't dare open any closet door for
fear of being buried under wooden boxes, sign blanks, and other assorted
carvings and wood burnings.
OH - WAIT A MINUTE !
That's my 'What happens when I'm on a wood carving binge" list! Sorry
about that!!!!
If I may put in my two cents about the book reviews - I would like to
say "Thank You" to Chris, Shawn, and Clive. They were fantastic to work
with during our last book project. It was an absolute delight to have
been part of this joint endeavor. And for all the beloved spouses,
kids, and co-workers that support us, whether it is in a wood related
business or in our passion for our hobby and craft, I extend our Thanks
for your patience, support, and encouragement. I know that the attitude
of those that we love about what we are doing can truly determine our
own attitudes about our endeavors. Being surrounded by supportive and
encouraging people makes everything even better!

Lori,
I will <note the problems>, but they'll be minor ones I'm sure. From
where I stand you <and others> have got the "dream job"... you write the
books.

Thanks, Mike! Don't pull any punches on account I'm on the list...if you
see problems, by all means note them! Have fun! (You have a dream job,
there...as a book-o-phile myself, I would love a task like
yours...grin).

Hey Gang,
I got a few books in the mail today for review. Matt Kelly says I can
write WOM reviews for them (you were warned), but I had to rave about
two of them here. Among the books were "Carving Award Winning
Songbirds" by Lori Corbett and "Wood Spirits and Green Men" by Lora S.
Irish (with Chris Pye, Shawn Cipa, and Clive Hicks). Since they're both
on the list I'd like to say here... Wow! Very nice work folks... very
nice. Can't wait to give them a good, thorough read (Oh yeah... and
carve projects from them <G>). It sure doesn't look like a tough job to
write good things about them.
Keep on Carvin'
