[Woodcarver] teaching outside the home

I have taught wood carving at a community college adult evening class,
Elderhostel week long session, and multi-day work shops sponsored by carving
clubs, and weekly classes in a large local Craft Shop.

The Elderhostel was a neat deal. Free lodging and meals for two of us for a
week, plus a liberal fee. I was also allowed to sell carving blanks, tools
and supplies to participants.

The community college adult education was good. Great facility in a local
high school shop room. Non-class sales were more restricted if local
businesses sold wood carving supplies.

Workshops were very good. Less profitable, no instructors fee, but allowed
to sell blanks and limited supplies needed for the class.

For me, the least desirable is teaching at home. Liability is a large
factor, plus it is my mess and I greatly resent others messing with it.

Weekly class in the local Craft Shop was very good. I rented space there and
sold a lot of woodcarvings so the rent was a wash, plus sold tools and
carving supplies. Free coffee. This was the best. We got free coffee and
cookies anytime, so it became our daily afternoon hangout for several years.
