I recently bought a grinder with the intention of swapping the grinding wheels for buffing wheels. I figure I will need to turn it around to get the correct rotation of the wheels, but is it okay to completely remove the wheel guards that surround about 75% of the wheel? And what do I need to put between my cloth buffing wheels and the nut to take up the space and provide a snug fit? Is there anything else I need to do or be aware of?

Or should I return the grinder and get something else?

Thanks for any and all suggestions!
Kathy
