Hi John,
You must also worry about the width (across grain) possibly changing 1/2 to
1-inch every year. I would attach a 'Z' strip to the wall and enough short
hangers, on the carving, to slide in the 'Z' strip. Anything you use should
allow for the piece to expand and contract across grain about an inch.
