[Woodcarver] question of the day

Sandie,

With or without discoloring the wood? A dilute bleach/water
mixture would kill the mold and (probably) whiten/lighten the
wood. Not sure if that'd get the green stain off tho....

PS: be sure to use gloves...

Here's a question for those of you with lots of experience -

I was cleaning this morning (I know - I must have been crazy) and
emptied a shelf in the basement that hadn't been emptied since I
filled
it up 3 years ago. I had stockpiled some wood rounds - the kind that
you
woodburn pictures on. We've had some wet summers and I haven't been
home
to keep the cellar aired out. Anyway, several of the pieces have
small
streaks of green mold growing on them.

The question is - can I do something to remove the mold and still use
the wood? There is quite an investment in these pieces and I hate to
turn them into firewood.

Sandie
