I spent over 3 years in Germany & the best history/woodcarving,
IMHO, is in Southern Germany (Barvaria). Within a 3 to 4 hour
drive from Munich you can see more carvings than you'd think
possible. Plus the area around Stuttgart (Black Forest) is another
carving center.
