I saw one once that looked pretty cool
A base with depression for the tip to fit into. The one saw the depression was large enough to and curves up to the surface at the back of stand.
At the back of the stand an upright with nice cure in it. The top came back up over the back of the base piece.
At the top of upright was a piece U shaped for the upper part of the walking stick to rest in. This kept the stick from coming out except straight out the front. It was made of contrasting colored woods, but doesn't need to be. Use your artistic abilities and design one that fits your decor.

Hello Fellow carvers!!!
I am looking for suggestions on how best to display a walking stick that
I carved at a Lee valley Seminar about two years ago. I carved it from a 1"
maple dowel and it has a long spiral from Top to bottom with a brass eagle
head handle. I want to display it beside a wicker chair . If I leave it
leaned up against the chair my dog nocks it over with his tail!!!! So I am
looking for any creative ideas on what I can do to build (carve ?) a stand
for it. Any ideas?????
Dennis
