The shoe buffer ( most are Dremel ) has been mentioned on the list before. It can be found at garage sales and flea markets usually for less than $10.00. Try to find one that has the plastic cones holding the cloth buffers. The ends will unscrew from the motor one having a right hand thread and the other having a left hand thread. The plastic can then be removed from metal shaft which has the threads. Once that small metal shaft is completely removed and clean it will be about 1/2" OD and 1-1/4" in length . The http://www.texaswoodcarvers.com/tool_index.htm has the parts. It is called an arbor attachment. You will need one with a 1/2" bore and RH threads, and one 1/2"bore and LH threads.

I have a couple of photos on my shop album showing the buffer.
