News Release for GOW 2005 (Gathering Of Woodcarvers)

Peter Benson and the GOW has made it on PBS's Master Art Series.

Host and artist Barry Skurkis has agreed to film Peter Benson's talk Tuesday
September 20th at 7 PM here at The Carving Shop in Somonauk. Peter Benson,
president of the British Woodcarving Association, will be talking about the
symbolism in a coat of arms and how to design your personal coat of arms for
your family. For the 4 days after, Peter will be teaching a class in relief
carving your personal coat of arms. Barry thinks he will be able to come
back to film the other GOW classes as well. Who knows, if his time permits
and he gets enough material we may have enough for 2 half-hour shows. I will
be crowded if we have Peter's talk inside my shop so if the weather is good
we'll have it outside. We have lots of chairs. I'll need to get more
lighting.

Just imagine the likes of Chris Howard, Tony Erikson, Floyd Rhadigan, Ol'
Don, Jim Byrne, Dave Kublank, Gene Westerberg, Mel Johnsom, Bonnie Graser,
Bob Mau and Wes Wilson, who are some more of our GOW instructors, showing
their talent and story telling. This could make 'woodcarving/story telling'
an Olympic sport.
