Hi Merrilee,

Yes, we are back after spending 2 weeks in Finland.  It was a great 
trip and the Museum that invited us to be a part of their opening 
exhibition was wonderful.  After spending 4 days with them we headed 
for Lapland, interviewing fan carvers along the way.  We spent the 
Midsummer Solstice in Lapland where we experienced 24 hours of 
sunlight.  We were at the same latitude of Barrow, Alaska, (to give you 
some perspective).  Reindeer wandered along the roads in front of us.  
AND we visited Santa Claus at his headquarters.  In fact, Santa Claus 
is very familiar with fan birds & their representation.  He revealed 
his thoughts on some history we had not heard previously.

We are sorry to miss Honesdale this year.  We have to miss the GOW 05 
too.  It's difficult to have to make choices on where to be anymore.  
It is our passion to preserve this Old World folk art and the 
representation of it so we feel we have to accept invitations to other 
areas.  You know, like spreading the word.
