Thanks for the store, club, and meeting information. As I've continued my
research - I've found I'm as excited about the community of carvers as I am
about learning to carve.
Just wanted to give a couple more specifics - if this helps anyone. I've
set up some personal goals around creating work by mid-August, because I
want to make sure I start in the present. Additionally - I really want the
live human element. A person that wants to share there passion through even
one (paid) lesson. To meet my goal - I would hope to have the lesson by
early August. I've recently realized, with the help of some conversations,
that I "may" need to do a little work on my own before a teacher can be
effective. That is great if that's the case - but I'd love to still line
someone up and even possibly have him/her help guide me on the appropriate
pre-work.
In terms of what kind of project I'd like to work on, I am somewhat open.
Possibly some small figures. Possible some small designs. Possibly both.
I'm trying to remain pretty flexible in case the person who'd like to teach
me has a passion they'd like to share. I know I may do other things in the
future. Just want to start somewhere with someone.
I will be heading down to Woodcraft to get some stuff very soon - and
possibly continue to search for a teacher. If someone wants to hop in
before that and guide me on my purchases - I openly welcome that.
Your club, meeting and workshop information will definitely continue to help
me in the future - so it too is appreciated.
Thanks so much for the warm welcomes and the carving spirit.
Robert
