  You are right the human touch is great but there are some pretty good step 
by step books that can be helpful until you find that person.  We on the 
list have been talking about the North East Woodcarvers Roundup that is 
taking place in Honesdale PA starting on the 24/25th.  They do have limited 
space and may not have room but it would be someplace to get started very 
soon.  I can't find the address for anyone in charge but if Jack Miller is 
reading this he might be able to help you out.  Any one eles know more than 
me??? (Hey no cracks there! ;)
