I agree Maura. If the desire is there and the "tools" are not you can still
create marvelous works with basic everyday tools. George carves dog
reliefs and they are a sight to see! How he can get the carved smooth
backgrounds but still maintain the knife marks and the depth he does is
simply amazing to me! I learned a lot from his class on technique and maybe
a better appreciation for the lightweightness of the tools I have. That
chisel is very heavy and my hand and wrist were tired at the end of the day.
I worked hard and am very proud of my puppy and think I did well with the
chisel (but it will not be my tool of choice of course! :) It wouldn't hurt
any of us to get out of our comfort zone and try something totally different
from our norm!
