[Woodcarver] Black Walnut

Hi Al,

It's best to have them sawn into the sizes you'll be using them as soon as
possible. Than stack them out of the weather in an unheated area on stickers
so the air can circulate all around the wood. Sealing the ends with old
varnish can improve the yield depending on the wood and cut. Allow one year
per inch thickness for air drying (here in the midwest). It will come down
to about 13% moisture content (MC). Than enjoy your carving.

Hello Everyone,

Will be coming into some freshly felled Black Walnut in the next day or two.
Is there a special way to treat the wood/logs in order to have them dry
properly for carving?

Thank you in advance for any and all replies.
