A couple of years ago, I saw homes in NC with mahogany weatherboarding. I  
had never seen it used for weatherboarding before, but was assured by the  
builder that it had the qualities that would hold up as siding on houses  better 
than most other kinds of wood. From that, I would assume it would be  good for 
carving plaque,etc.

Good to know Tom  I think I will be going with mahogany.  I  have a few 
different pieces just hope I have the right size.
