[Woodcarver] knuckle replacement

Many years of abusing my hands with my trade at work (tinsmith....sheetmetal
worker). Punching thousands of holes, and hammering rivets, squeezing and
cutting with sheetmetal snips.....add a little carving over the past 12
years and my hands, especially my right middle knuckle are hurting. I can't
make a fist. That knuckle is almost twice as big as normal. The orthopedic
hand specialist told me "nothing but bone on bone...no cushion. I need a
replacement.

Enough of my whining. I may be having a knuckle replacement. Has anyone out
there had any experience with this procedure?
