You aren't buying a carving at these prices, you are buying an "investment" in
an artwork that happens to be a carving of a shorebird! LOL!  Also known as
"Lets see if we can run up the market for old decoys and shorebirds!"  It is
amazing what these old carvings have sold for in recent years, but not a
surprise.  Some folks are willing to pay big money for these works while current
carvers, for the most part, don't get nearly enough income from their carvings
to make a significant living at it.

I have seen some some current bird carvings offered at prices in the $30-$50K
range and they are selling.  Mostly these are done by folks who are well known
in the carvings hows like the Ward World show, etc and have the ribbons on the
birds to prove it.

Vic, who is NOT one of those buying at these prices!!
