Not sure you can get a current price on Rockwell Tools any longer.. the closest would be to use a Delta Tool price. However by comparison an 8 piece Diefenbacher set runs $109, an 8 piece Robert Larson set runs $ 317, an 8 piece Ashley Iles set runs $399 ... these all being what they call starter sets. it will all depend on the type of gouge, skew, scraper or bowl tool and its size which make up the price.. perhaps you can get a list of the gouges that make up this particcular set and then assign comparative prices for your own edification.. if its a bargain you are looking for and your friend is amongst the unititiated about true value (either high or low) its probably best haggling a value price at a tool show and keeping your friendship intact.

Hi Richard. I think you should contact Rockwell and ask them. Actually, I think your friends statement about the price of the tools could be close or accurate. Large quality lathe tools with good steel are expensive. Although there are a lot of cheap lathe tools available, they are probably not comparable to a good quality set. The size of the tools vary considerably as well. Even though they are not used, they are older and your friend will probably give you a much better deal than you could get buying a comparable new set - might be worth paying more than you planned to get them.
ALEX
