[Woodcarver] Plant Growing Lights

Hi Patti,
I think it good to try to create shadow and highlights with lighting rather
than flood the area and try to eliminate shadow. I have 16, 4-foot
florescent bulbs in my shop area and I wasn't happy with the light even
after installing Day-lite bulbs. After going to Ivans I realized he didn't
have as much light as I have in my shop but that I could see better. He has
overhead track lighting that can be adjusted as well as lights on the bench.
I got lights for each of my benches as well as some floor standing lights.
This improved my lighting 100% because I can create shadow which is
important to seeing the shape. I'm convinced that regardless of what you
have for overall lighting it is still necessary to have a light close that
is movable to create shadows and highlights.
For details I find natural light is the best. When I think I'm done with a
carving I take it to my front office area where I have a large 5 X 6-foot
window and 3-foot glass door facing west. With the abundance of this natural
light I can easily see more areas that still need work.
If I ever build another shop I will put large, very large, windows in the
shop area.

Just wanted to thank all who responded on and off list
to my question about lighting.
I got off on the wrong foot looking for a non-existent
post but some of you clever woodcarvers directed me to
the proper resource.
Thanks to everyone.
