Big Dog,
I agree with Mush, Epson is a pretty darn good scanner. After studying reviews and anything else I could find I ended up with an Epson Perfection 4180. After I purchased the 4180, my boss looked at it and bought the next one up. (He had to have one step better, lol). This was about 6 months ago. Both of us have been very satisfied with the Epson Perfection series.

Hey Big, Dog,

I have had an Epson Perfection scanner (model 1650, about 4 years old, I think) and have been VERY happy with it. Before that I had a Microtek and was also happy with that.

I usually check the CNET reviews as part of my research before buying any peripherals . You might want to check some of the reviews and price comparisons at

Good luck with your search!

Hi y'all,
My second HP scanner just bit the dust and I'm looking to switch brands.
I'd sure appreciate any input everyone has, pro or con, about scanners.
Also, didn't someone post a website at one time that has no affiliation to
a particular brand of electronics and gives honest comparative reviews of
such items?
Or am I imaging such a site.
Thanks for your opinions and help.
