Hi Larry,
I seem to have gotten into this subject on something like chapter 4 or 5. I'm not sure what has transpired to this point BUT I will add my two cents worth, as I always do, and say that I have been associated with several of the woodcarving lists for more than 4 years and I have never read a rude answer to a new carver or any carver.
I suspect that it being summer and the lists are slow that no carver from the Denver area was available to respond. Whomever did respond probably had no personal information on the Denver area but was trying to give you a resource to investigate on your own. I guess most of us assume that we all get Chip Chats but you know what happens when you assume....sometimes there are misunderstandings.
I was not the person who responded but having no information on Denver and wanting to be helpful, I probably would have tried to point you in the direction of shows and clubs listings in the magazines. Attached to those listings is always a contact person and that person could be the answer to your dreams.
I hope that this helps to explain that while we all would love to know everything ;~) only a couple on this list really do know the answer to most questions. If you want to know what's happening in Madison, Wisconsin...I'm one of the people who could give you information...otherwise, check out the magazines, look for contact persons, email, keep asking....I've never met an unfriendly woodcarver.

I have been watching this site for approximately 4 months. I have found some very useful information. The carvings that I have viewed on your sites have inspired me to dig deep and keep carving. I have gained a great deal of respect for the talents exhibated by members of this web site and e-mail exchange program.
This respect lead me to seek advice on what one should put on the must see list in Denver.
If one is not familiar with any thing in this area, no answer is a sufficient answer. If you are just too busy to reply to a new carver (not a part of the gang), no answer is a good answer. I still feel that telling one to go look it up yourself is not a response I would be proud of..........What is the condition of wood carving in America.........Maybe the question should be.........What is the condition of wood carvers in america?
I am off of my soap box, I will go back to my corner and continue reading and enjoying what I see and read and I will continue to practice and learn. If someday a new carver requests my guidance I hope and pray that I can be sensitive to his or her request.
