Hi Larry,

Since the demise of the Woodcarvers Museum in Monument :-( , I know of no permanent carvers hangout except for shops like http://www.woodcraft.com/ where one can find lots of tools, mags, books and people willing to talk carving. There are carving classes held about 1 PM each Wed, Thurs and Fri by my favorite teacher, Jack Bayman.

They have other classes on the website. Perhaps your trip will coincide with a class.

Be prepared for a possible snowstorm...often happens in early fall.

The carvers show in Golden in Oct is our annual, it is fairly big, draws vendors from surrounding states.
Great place to collect more wood!!

It is usually at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on hiway 6 on the west side of the metro area. Wide variety of carvers and pyrographers. It isn't the Pacific Flyway show but it has been fun in the past with good carvers.

Meetings are typically Second Sunday of each month 1:00 PM of course, at

Maple Grove Grange
3130 Youngfield
Wheatridge CO, a suburb. Haven't been there myself but it probably isn't hard to find with Mapquest.

To join ($15.00) and get newsletter and access to classes etc, write

Colorado Carvers Club
PO Box 19171,
Denver CO, 80219-0171

I just today picked up this info at the above Woodcraft shop.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, haven't been keeping up with email lately.
Hope this isn't too late,

Safe trip!!

Sheri Lew

Hi Larry,

Sorry that you took my suggestion to seek listings to find what you are looking for as being offensive.

Our Carving magazine has no listings for clubs in Colorado but does list a show in Golden, CO on the 8th and 9th of October.

This is the best I can do. Paul.
