[Woodcarver] RE: CNC carving???

Merrilee,
You may not have been there, but Yvonne and I recently visited a Woodcarving
Gallery in the Amish area of Ohio.  We saw it advertised on a bill board
with a mallet and chisel... how could I resist?  It was the P. Graham Dunn
Gallery in Dalton, OH.  All of it was incised carvings done with CNC routers
and laser engravings. After getting past the initial disappointment that
there wasn't a chisel or mallet in the place (which was huge), I still had
to be amazed by the cuts they were obtaining with a computer controlled
router bit.  Very, very impressive.  Ninety percent of the carvings were
plaques and frames with inspirational sayings, Bible quotes, Psalms, and
pages from Hymnals.  The machines were idle that day, but when they're
running, you can see them from observation windows from the 2nd floor
gallery above and closed circuit TVs.

As automated and computer driven as it was, I was still glad I found the
place and went.
