Harry,

Since I've only ever done one I guess that's it ;--)

My grandmother had a small cabinet of, I think, oak which
had a drawer underneath a couple of shelves which were
'supposed' to have doors but one was missing. One was there
tho so I used it as a template. It had a pair of "vines"
with clusters of small leaves and round "fruit/berries".
One vine across each side of the door. I had to match the
look/size/shape of the door and vines and then try to color
match.

I think I did a pretty good job on the carving but the color
is just a skootch too light. Good but I'm a perfectionist so
every time I see it ** I KNOW ** it isn't right ;--), Oh well.

Have thought since that I might like to try carving *something*
but just don't get around to it and basically, since I don't
know squat about carving, can't seem to actually put knife to
wood. Don't even know what KIND of knife to use, how to carve,
what KIND of carving ETC.

Tom (nj)

hi everyone,

i am curious and have been wondering for a while about what it could
be that everyone started carving the first time they made a carving. i
am also kind of curious to know about some other things .
so here is 3 questions for anyone who wants to share their carving
experiences to everyone.

1)what was your first carving you ever made?

2)what was the funniest carving you ever made?

3)what was the most difficult carving you ever made or what did you
struggle the most with when carving, how did you solve it?
