Hi Harry,

It sounds like you are getting a second bevel on the tip of your knife.
There is an excellent video on hand sharpening. I have it and it is great.
All done by hand. Try out his site.

hi everyone,

i have a question about sharpening.
i have been carving for a small while now but i have
never had anyone to teach me how to properly sharpen
my knife.
i have tried and did ok with a lot of patience and
frustration, but my knife seems to be dull again after
almost no time and i have to use to much strenght to
do the carving. the dullness also makes me mess my
carving up somtimes because i can not get that one cut
clear or deep enough. the straight cut i was aming
for has to be done over or a piece breaks of because
the cut was not clean.
i have never had any proper lessons visually and
practically on how to do it right with what i have.

can someone direct me to a website were i can see it
done properly, is there a video on simply done by hand
sharpening( no machines involved).
