Steve, I've been looking for this answer for about 10 years. Started off on
Woodspirits & then
tried other types. I've found out what I don't care to carve (fishes, birds,
animals, chip carving) & found out my body doesn't care to do mallet work.
I haven't tried relief carving, but it's in the future if I can find a
simple pattern to start-off with.
I do mostly 'Little People'... Santas. Gnomes, Elves, etc.
I'm not interested in selling my carvings, I don't do juried shows... I just
enjoy carving.
