Hi Doug,

I haven't seen a copy of that book for many years. John Matthews was a
carver/sculptor from England who attended the International Woodcarvers
Congress many years ago. He used to enter into competition his beautiful
laminated plywood stylized pieces of different animals: sharks, dolphins,
etc. His work was sort of cutting edge at the time. I'm not sure but he
may have judged at the Congress also.

I recently picked up a 1973 book by John Matthews entitled Present Day
USA WoodCarvers, Whittlers and Sculptors and How To Become One. Can
anyone provide any more background or detail on this book?

Thanks,

Doug Evans
