Harry,
Is the wood is linden (limewood)? Was the stain already in the wood, or
did it suddenly appear? Linden gets a fungus called bluestain when it stays
moist for a long time after being harvested. That could already have been
in the wood. Otherwise, I'm not sure what caused that. There are so many
variables, type of wood, how it was dried, what it was exposed to along the
way, that it is impossible to pinpoint the cause without much more
information.
