Mel,
I recently upgraded my digital camera to an Olympus C5500 Zoom. Retail, it is
now selling for under $300. I bought mine online from a place that had a lot of
good buyer responses and used my credit card to insure I have a safety net.
Look at http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html for reviews and
lots of good information on cameras. Very easy to compare models and places to
buy there. I recommend this site highly for their information.
I was specifically looking for a few specific features, including:
. 5 MP
. Good zoom quality (Optical, not necessarily digital zoom)
. Macro capability
. Standard batteries, not a specialized battery
. Large preview screen
Other features were valuable as well, but the Olympus had everything I wanted
for a camera that I could use as a point/shoot or fully manual mode.
Good luck! Vic H
